
Wurtz avocado (also known as ‘Little Cado’) is a compact dwarf avocado variety, making it ideal for small yards, patios, or container growing.
Growth Habit: Dwarf tree reaching only 8–10 feet at maturity (compared to standard avocado trees that reach 30+ feet).
Fruit Type: Guatemalan-Mexican hybrid that produces medium-sized (8–12 oz), pear-shaped fruit with a bright green, thin, slightly pebbled skin.
Flavor & Quality: High oil content yielding a rich, buttery, and classic creamy flavor.
Type & Pollination: Type A flowering pattern. It is self-fertile, meaning it can produce fruit on its own, though yields increase with a Type B cross-pollinator nearby.
Hardiness: Cold tolerant down to roughly 25°F–28°F once established, making it suitable for USDA Zones 9–11.
Harvest Season: Typically bears fruit from late spring through summer (May to September).
